Digg Social Reader: Now with Diggs, Submits and Comments
In December, we launched Digg Social Reader-- an easier way to let friends see what you’re reading on Digg.
With close to 2M impressions and counting, the response from readers in the first few weeks has been compelling.
The most frequent request we get is to show more actions- specifically which articles you recommend and want to talk about. Put simply, you want to Digg.
So starting today, we will begin rolling out a series of new actions for Digg Social Reader that you can add on your Facebook Timeline and your friends’ Ticker.
With Digg Social Reader, you can now add the following to your Facebook Timeline & friends’ Ticker:
- Stories you Digg
- Comments you make
- Submissions of stories you’ve added to Digg
If you use Digg frequently this means:
- a way to more easily promote the headlines and topics you care about
- expanding the conversation from your connections on Digg to all your friends
- bragging rights for finding interesting content first
If someone is new to Digg this means:
- an easier way to see the best news their friends have read all day
- a quick look at the story’s popularity across Facebook and Twitter
- recommendations on related content
Everyone benefits from greater control including:
- the ability to publish reads on a per story basis
- granular choice between which actions to publish-- for instance sharing reads and submissions but not comments or Diggs
- the ability to turn Social Reader OFF directly from the Digg Newsbar
- the ability to edit per story activity both on Digg and your Facebook Timeline and Activity Log
This is what a story looks like on the News Ticker
Your Timeline includes a snapshot of the stories you Dugg, submitted and commented on:
And just as before, you can see all your activity directly on Digg, including whether you have Social Reader turned On or Off and a list of recent stories you have read, submitted and Dugg.
As always we look forward to your questions and comments. Happy Digging.
